Experience the beauty and breathtaking views of the Carolina Mountains in this family sized vacation rental that screams comfort, fun, and close proximity to dining, shopping and entertainment. “Grapevine Retreat” is an eight-bedroom, five bath vacation home offers almost 4400 sq feet of living space, and is located only 5 minutes from downtown West Jefferson, 30 minutes to Boone and 30 minutes to Wilkesboro. Thanks to the amenities and prime location, you, your guests, and even your pets will enjoy a vacation you won’t soon forget.

The spacious living area on the upper level of this home offers an inviting space that’s ideal for spending time with family and friends. Enjoy snuggling on a cool Carolina Mountain evening by the gas log fireplace, watch a movie on the large flat-screen TV, admire the beautiful mountain views from the large windows, or play a competitive board game (games provided).

While there is plenty of dining options nearby, you won’t have to go far to enjoy a scrumptious meal. Just head to the full kitchen equipped with everything you need to prepare a meal to share at one of the four dining tables. Alternatively, a charcoal grill is provided if you’d like to have a cookout.

Once you are ready to unwind and get some rest, you can look forward to claiming one of eight private bedrooms. The main floor is home to three bedrooms each with king beds and a flat screen smart TV, and one features an ensuite bathroom. There is also an additional bedroom with two x-long twin beds.

On the entrance/ground floor, you will four more bedrooms. Three offer a comfy king size bed and the other features two x-long twins. In addition, the spacious den/game room offers a kitchenette, flat screen smart TV, a gas log fireplace, and a ping-pong table. What a great place for the teenagers to hang out or family just to sit around and talk. WiFi is provided for those need to stay in touch with work or just check emails.

This comfy vacation rental is just a short drive from West Jefferson, where you can visit Ashe County Cheese, stroll through downtown enjoying the gorgeous murals while shopping in the unique shops or enjoy dining out at one of the many delicious restaurants. Don’t forget about Mount Jefferson State Park and New River State Park or rent a canoe or tube and take a leisurely float down the New River.

If you are looking for more fun activities, just head to Boone and Blowing Rock where you can visit Tweetsie Railroad, Mystery Hill, High Gravity Adventures, Linville Caverns, or spend the day shopping at the famous Tanger Outlets. With so many options you will be sure to make plenty of fun memories to take back home. Perhaps you would like to take a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway and view majestic long range mountain views and hiking trails.

  My large group enjoyed our weekend at The Grapevine Retreat. There was more than enough room for everyone to have their own space or come together. We had to go out to get things like hand soap and the trash policy was a little difficult with the large group, but thankfully there was a store nearby. We did have an incident of someone not a part of our group coming onto the property the last night so I would recommend making sure all doors are locked when in the house. Otherwise, we had a great time and would book again.

  We loved this house. it has 2 areas for hanging out as well as bedrooms for days. The beds were comfortable and the showers were amply hot. The price was also excellent! Highly recommend.
  
  The only complaint we had was the grime on the floor. Walking around in socks resulted in the bottoms turning black.

  This house was perfect for our extended family trip. The house was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils.   This property is awesome for any large gathering of folks. We were part of a group of songwriters looking to spend a weekend of songwriting and sharing music. Having a total of 6 bedrooms with queen or king beds and 2 rooms with twin beds was perfect to accommodate all 10 of us and a dog. The huge deck was perfect for gathering and jam sessions (as was the living/dining area on the main floor and the great room on the ground floor) and plenty of parking for all. We truly loved our stay and we will be coming back for sure!

  As soon as we checked in, we knew we were in good hands. Just a few issues were noted, and remedied the same evening by a friendly handyman. The bottom floor Ping Pong Table, board games, and book selection kept the kids happy. There was a high chair for any extra little visitors. Tons of cabinet space, a lot of kitchen supplies, double ovens, and 2 refrigerators kept the cooks happy! There is one bathtub in the common bathtub upstairs, which was great to have with kiddos. The colorful trees and mountain views were gorgeous! Gas fireplaces on both floors were a hit, too. Also, King sized beds in all rooms except the twin bedrooms were lovely!
  There were a couple relevant downfalls we wish we knew about beforehand. There is no trash pickup - you must bring your own trash to the dump site about 8 minutes away (not a deal-breaker for us, but would've been nice to know). Also, only a couple rooms had dressers. When staying at a place, I love to unpack amd make myself at home. There were plenty of luggage racks, but dressers or drawers in each room would be great!

  Plenty of space for our big group of 4 families. Only annoying thing was that they only allow two trashbags of trash to be left behind, and we had a lot more than that by the end of the 3 day stay.

We do leave detailed directions to the centers, a decal for entry and the hours posted at the cabin. And if you have extra when you depart you can call arrange for trash pickup with our office.   A good experience with a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of space, and a beautiful deck. We did note that the requirement to have only 2 bags of trash left behind makes Sunday departures challenging, but otherwise it was a great experience in a beautiful place. For playing in the river, we recommend Elk Shoals which is nearby. Our kids all had fun on this little sandy bend.

  From the moment we drove up, we could tell this lovely property would exceed our expectations from the profile and pictures that we were already excited about! The easy access from the highway, the close proximity to a good grocery store, and the quaint downtown of West Jefferson, as well as the peaceful pastoral setting, made our arrival a very positive experience. The house and property itself, however, provided our family with a very special vacation this year! The house was very clean on arrival, and a perfect balance of homey atmosphere with modern conveniences for a large family. There is not only plenty of space for sleeping, but also plenty of bathrooms, separate and large living areas with plenty of seating, and a well-stocked kitchen for a crowd, with ample eating areas upstairs, downstairs, and outside on the large deck. Hard to find all of the above in one house! Favorite extras are the king-sized beds, large sofas, 2 refrigerators and 2 ovens, the oversized bean bags, the well-supplied game cabinet, lots of books and DVD’s, sports closet, and ping pong table, which helped make the rainy days more fun for the kids. We enjoyed rocking on the deck, walks in the neighborhood, and soccer, basketball, and corn hole in the driveway/yard. Ashe County Park nearby was an added plus with disc golf, pickle ball, play grounds and a greenway. We were all sad to leave but grateful for this week in this sweet home away from home, and all voted to come back next year! A big thank you to the hosts, and the rental agency, for all the attention to detail that made Grapevine Retreat such an excellent place to stay.

  I've been renting a place for our expanding family every year since 2009. Grapevine Retreat was acclaimed by all as the best place yet. It's located in a beautiful rural setting, yet only minutes from a supermarket and a town and a mountain to climb. We stayed for three nights, and as we stood around our cars waiting to leave on the fourth morning, we all felt genuine regret that we had to leave--and that hasn't always happened on our annual trips. The house is wonderfully spacious and inviting; though it's been fairly thoroughly renovated, its fifty years of history gives it a special feeling of warmth and comfort that we've found lacking in newer homes. This is a home, and while we there it felt as if it were OUR home. We plan to return next year.

  A group of friends and families meet for a few days to take a bike ride on the Creeper Trail. We also spent a day floating down the New River on tubs.
