Are you looking for a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of life? Then look no further than River Phoenix cabin! Nestled in a quiet setting by a babbling stream with waterfalls this cozy cabin is sure to please even the most discriminate with its beautiful furnishings and decorations to compliment.

As you wind up the country lane you will cross the New River where you can fish or just spend time listening to the song of the river as it gently drifts by. Or perhaps you’d like to leisurely float or canoe downstream.

River Phoenix greets you with a rocking chair front porch and spacious gated wraparound porch and open deck to contain your pets while you relax. Listen closely and you will hear the babbling creek that runs beside the cabin. There is even an outdoor dining set so you can enjoy a morning coffee and breakfast on the deck.

Inside, you will find a welcoming interior all on one level. The great room features an electric fireplace, perfect for warming by on those cool Carolina Mountain evenings. A 50 inch flat-screen TV with cable and DVD is perfect for popping in a good movie and just enjoying family time together. River Phoenix offers WiFi for those that would like to stay connected while on vacation.

The kitchen offers stainless appliances and is well-equipped for our guests that wish to cook. There is an ice-maker, Gevalia coffeemaker and a dishwasher for quick clean-up.

The master bedroom features a queen bed with 40 inch flat-screen TV and if you open the windows, the sounds of the creek running by will lull you to sleep! A private bath with shower and large sink area are also available. This cabin does include central AC and heat.

There is also a shared hall bath and guest bedroom with a double bed. There is even a fold up twin cot for additional sleeping space. You’ll find a washer and dryer available.

Venture outside to enjoy the Koi fish pond, and hike Phoenix Mountain at the back of the cabin or walk to the New River. A fire pit is ready and waiting for you to fire it up for making s'mores. A charcoal grill and picnic table makes for a great place to cook out.

You may even catch a glimpse of several of nature’s creatures while staying at River Phoenix. There are deer, turkey, squirrels and the occasional fox, with plenty of birds coming by to visit. River Phoenix cabin welcomes all size pets with a non-refundable pet fee.

  Cute decorated cabin that is perfect for a quick getaway. The fact that this is dog friendly makes it a wonderful place for owners and pets . The porch is pet friendly and the cabin was clean.   The cabin was the right size for my wife and me. We could have easily had our two adult children in the cabin with plenty of room. The wrap around porch was great to sit on with a famtastic view. Lots of room on the property to wander around. The cabin had everything we needed except decent TV channels (a below standard package). It was Saturday during college football season and could not watch any games. The big thing was the floor was very dirty.

  My sister and I took our dogs and had a blast. The trails were neat to walk. We ate outside on the porch where the creek is running and it was so fun. The air is so smoothing, no humity and the highest temp was 78. We also enjoyed tubing down the river, Pie on the Mountain and Mt. Aire where the ribeye steak is delicious.

  Will try to stay again! Cool location (our station wagon without 4WD made it up the hill), awesome stream, beautiful trees made the porch paradise. Had everything we needed to cook a few times. Not too remote from civilization so we were able to hop out for coffee or to the grocery store without too much planning. Porch had clearly been freshly swept before we got there, which was a really nice touch. Wifi worked OK (didn't get to test out the video calling) and had most channels we needed on the satellite.

  This is a great place for down time. It's seems out of the way but so close to Jefferson. The creek was a pleasurable benefit. We could hear it 24/7. Our dog loved to spend time exploring the creek and the trails. We also spent much time at the fish pond. Also the cabin was the cleanest we have ever stayed in. Kudos to the cleaning crew. The management were a positive, instead of giving excuses they gave solutions.

  Overall comfortable. Liked that we were a bit secluded. Peaceful and quiet. Enjoyed the property and my runs along the near by river. This house is advertised as sleeping up to 5 but I would suggest capping that at 4. Also, it wasn’t totally clear to me that there are only two double beds. My twin daughters absolutely won’t sleep together : ) so one slept on the couch, which wound up being fine. There really isn't adequate room to comfortably set up a cot. Google maps does not give the correct directions once you cross the near single lane bridge over the river.

  This was a girls weekend trip to celebrate my birthday! Everything was smooth sailing and we had an amazing time. The cabin was super cute and very quiet. It was clean and check-in was a breeze. I would recommend this cabin however my only advice would be that if you are planning for it to accommodate 5 people the twin bed is actually a cot and it’s stored in the closet. There is a full bed and a queen bed and the cot (which would suit a child just fine but a bit small for an adult). Otherwise, a lovely cabin to escape the hustle n bussle of life.

  What an amazing weekend at the River Phoenix! This cabin is immaculate and perfectly setup for a relaxing couples or family weekend. The interior is well-laid out and has everything you could think of-from kitchen equipment to tv and books to relax. Wifi was perfect. The outside is just as nice- a HUGE wraparound porch to enjoy rain or shine and a peaceful babbling creek running alongside the cabin. Daffodils were just starting to peek out and I can imagine the property is beautiful in all four seasons. Our pup enjoyed walks by the koi pond and spotting deer in the woods, and we discovered delicious pizza and cider only a few minutes away in Lansing. Truly a treasure and we'll be back!

  The cabin was beautiful and even more so with the snow. The cabin owner lives down the hill, and assisted getting these ‘city’ girls up the icy road. When my dog took off after deer in the early evening, the neighbors and owners immediately posted on their neighborhood Facebook and some even drove around trying to find my dog. The Facebook posting resulted in some great suggestions and gave me hope. After an overnight stay outside, my dog made it back to me safely. The rest of the weekend was super relaxing, hanging out by the fire pit, hiking, and spending time with good friends. The owner had someone plow the road for us due to the 5 inches of snow that had accumulated overnight so that we can get out the next day. Would highly recommend the River Phoenix to anyone and everyone !! The cabin was perfect, the area was gorgeous, and the people were friendly!!

  Everything from checking in to checking out was simple. The cabin had character and it was lightly decorated for Christmas (which I loved)! everything you may need was there. Short drive into West Jefferson if you wanted to shop or just to eat out. We brought plenty of our own supplies. Kitchen was really nice for cooking. The pups had a blast! I chose this place because they allowed pups. The cabin was so clean, you would not know any animal was there.

  I recently spent my birthday weekend with my husband, son, daughter-in-law, grandson and 2 grandpups at the River Phoenix cabin. It was phenomenal! The cabin is comfortable, decorated beautifully and incredibly well appointed. They truly thought of everything. (The description says 1 BA but it's actually 1 1/2 BA) The wrap around porch is what dreams are made of - and the gate on each end making it secure for the dogs and my grandson was a huge bonus. The proximity to West Jefferson with its shopping and attractions is definitely a plus. I would absolutely stay here again!

  Enjoyed our time at this property. Sit on the porch and enjoy a cup of coffee listening to the stream roll by. Explore the koi pond and waterfall on the property, build a fire and roast some s’mores. You really couldn’t ask for much more. Close to West Jefferson which is full of Independent Businesses, restaurants, brewery, Cheese shop, antique stores etc. Close to the Blue Ridge parkway and Grayson Highlands state park so you can spend a day picnicking or hanging out with the Wild Ponies or Hike to the top of Mt Rogers, the highest peak in VA The cabin was well stocked including pots, pans and even a crock pot if you are so inclined.

  My wife, young daughter, our dog, and I had an excellent experience at River Phoenix. The cabin and surrounding property offered us just the kind of detached getaway we had hoped--detached from city life but with all the modern amenities we don't want to do without. The cabin was clean, cozy, plenty large for my family, and most importantly it had that appealing, woody, authentic cabin feel. The surrounding property is equally nice, with a coy pond and a beautiful babbling brook you can hear from inside the cabin. Additionally, the location is close to West Jefferson, which is a super cool town with shops, dining, breweries, etc. Finally, if you like the outdoors, make the 30 min. drive to Grayson State Park across the state line in VA. Look it up, it's every bit as cool as people say.

  Everything was just as described. Very comfortable for 4 people. Kitchen was a little light on dishes but otherwise well-equipped. We were there to get away from everyone and to do a lot of hiking. Many great hiking areas within 20-30 minutes of cabin. We brought all our own food so not sure what supplies are like in town. We played games, watched DVDs, and used the fire pit to roast marshmallows. Ate almost all our meals on the wrap-around porch. Very convenient since there weren't any bugs. Waterfall next to cabin provides peaceful background sounds.

  River Phoenix cabin was excellent place to stay. We stayed for five days cabin was 5 star hotel and easy check in and great people in the front office when booking. We are going back soon to enjoy the river tubing, great small town and friendly people.

  What a great long weekend get-a-way!! We loved The River Phoenix, it was just perfect for the two of us and our two dogs. Very clean, nicely decorated, and easy to get to. The only surprise was that we thought it would be more remote, and it's just 2/10 of a mile away from a neighborhood. It was nothing that was misstated in the overview, it was our wrong assumption based on the picture I guess. The good thing is that even though "civilization" was just down the road, we still couldn't see any of those houses. Loved everything about it!

  This cabin is really cute and the creek behind it is beautiful. It's great for a small family but not for multi-family, as the only bath is inside one of the bedrooms. There are also no dressers in either of the bedrooms to store clothing and the closet in the second bedroom is locked for owner use, so for extended stays, it might be challenging to live out of a suitcase. Cabin was very clean (except for a few spider webs in the kitchen) and comfortable. You could walk down to the river but it would be quite a steep walk--and there aren't places along the river near the cabin where it's private. I only point this out because from the pictures, I had the impression we could stroll to the river and it would be this private, serene view. It's not. The river runs right along the road and there are houses everywhere. This is in an area with a lot of homes/trailers but the home itself is private and wooded. The koi pond was very pretty. Kids loved seeing the fish.

  Nice cabin in a very secluded location next to a creek. Wish access to the adjacent creek was better. But there was a good fishing spot on the New River less than a mile away. Hope to return again before trout season ends.
