Perched on Helton Knob in Grassy Creek, North Carolina, this cabin has a dream view to the south, overlooking layered views of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Ashe County. Located within a half hour of the Blue Ridge Parkway, this three bedroom, three bath house has all the comforts of home -- with the addition of peace and tranquility.

There are plenty of activities available close by! Canoe or kayak on the New River; fish or hike at the many beautiful parks in the area; enjoy some mountain music; or check out the shops, art galleries and dining in West Jefferson. At a mile high, Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia boasts spectacular views and terrain that varies from hardwood forest to rhododendron groves to open tundra. And to top it off, it even has wild ponies!

Don't feel like straying far from home base? There are pool and foosball tables in the rec room. Take a walk down to the pond and do some catch and release fishing. You can curl up with a book, or simply enjoy the view.

The cabin sleeps 8 people very comfortably, and can accommodate up to 13 people. There is a king bed plus twin daybed in the master bedroom on the 3rd floor, a queen bed in one of the main floor bedrooms, and a full bed plus a set of twin bunks in the other main floor bedroom. In addition, there is a full size futon in the 3rd floor loft and a full size sleeper sofa with bar-blocker pad plus foam mattress pad for extra comfort in the rec room on the ground level. The lower level also provides a private dressing room -- it is sort of like a complete suite! (There's a microwave and coffee maker downstairs, too!)

Dish HDTV and fiber optic internet keep you connected to the outside world -- but only if you want! Unsure of what to do: there is a notebook chocked full of information on local activities! Driveway requires either an AWD/4WD year round.

  The house was perfect for 5 adults and 3 kids and our labradoodle.
  There is a lot of space for everyone.
  The kitchen is well equipped.
  Like most houses there are multiple remotes to deal with, but the service was great. The internet was very fast.
  For a house that is 10-15 years old ,it is in very good shape.

  Very stisfied with the rental agency. They were quick to respond when we called, even on the weekend. Enjoyed the pool table in the game room downstairs. This area gave the young people an area to be together an have some fun.The steep driveway and narrow parking area is the main concern at this location. I drove a rear2 wheel drive Toyota Sequoia and had no problem in the summer, but snow or ice would be bad even with four wheel drive at this location.

  The cabin is wonderful and beautiful. Everything you could need or want is at hand. What a view evey morning. It's so quiet and peaceful. Two downsides: no cell signal so phone calls need to be made in town and the hill right next to the cabin is not easy to get up. If you have a van, park it at the top and walk down. But hey, I lost two pounds with all the extra walking! Great company to do business with. All were sweet and polite. Will rent again!

    Thank you for leaving a review of A Dream View. Cell phone signal is spotty in the Carolina Mountains especially if you do not have Verizon. A Dream View does offer WiFi and there is a landline that is listed on the directions sheet so you can give out to family members or you can make long distance calls with a calling card. The description of the property does talk about the driveway and the steepness of it. The view is well worth the walk if you have to park up top. We look forward to having you stay with us again.

  Although things could have been better. Upper & lower sliding door screens were off their tracks & screen mesh was coming off. Vacuum was extremely dirty, canister filled with dirt.

  I was a little disappointed that the pictures online made it look like the pond with the gazebo was in the cabin's yard, and like it had some yard, which it didn't. The pond was barely even in walking distance, and there was no yard, but rather cliffs all around, which became stressful having a 2 yr old along. The directions to the cabin were confusing because part were in one document, and the rest in another. We followed the first doc and ended up going the long way around because we drove to WJ first, not realizing the cabin directions actually skipped the party about getting on 221. But I thought, ahhh, I can relax now in this hammock swing, but as soon as I sat in it, it broke :( The cabin itself was beautiful, as were the views, and it's a wonderful place, but not good for toddlers. So I was disappointed that the pics made it look different than I expected, but overall we had a good stay, and folks at Carolina Mountain Properties are great and friendly, it's a great company. Next time I hope to find a place suitable for my dog and my son without paying a super high price to find one. I've had many other stays through CMP that were wonderful, so I'll chalk this one up to a whoops and hope next time if a little better :)

  Clean, beautiful, and comfortable!! We vacationed with our three older kids. The pool table was the key to success with them! The beds were very comfortable.
