Mountain Jewel

This newly renovated farmhouse is a definite “Mountain Jewel.” Located just across from Jefferson Landing Golf course, 5 minutes from the New River, 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and close to the towns of Jefferson, West Jefferson, Boone and Wilkesboro, it is in the heart of the High Country.

As soon as you arrive at “Mountain Jewel” the first thing you will notice is the babbling stream that boasts mountain trout. A mountain view is also awaiting you from the front porch swing.

Step inside and you will find an updated home with modern touches that still pays tribute to the past. The living room features an electric log fireplace with a beautiful antique mantle and flat screen TV with internet channels for your viewing pleasure. A comfy loveseat and chair offer a place to curl up and watch a good movie or just relax. WiFi is provided throughout the home, and several board games for you to enjoy.

Upstairs above the living area, is Louis' loft, a tribute to the owner's grandfather, featuring desk for those that need to stay caught up on work while on vacation. Louis was an world renowned stamp collector and the owner graciously provides postcards with stamps for guests to drop a note to a loved one while on vacation. A cozy chair is also available to curl up and read a good book.

The spacious eat-in kitchen offers stainless steel appliances, a farmhouse sink that overlooks the stream, Keurig coffeemaker, and a dining table for four. A dishwasher makes for quick cleanup.

The main level also features two bedrooms. The first one features a queen bed and a flatscreen TV. There is a shared hall bath with tub/shower combo. In the hallway, there is a stackable washer and dryer for your convenience. The second bedroom features a king bed with its own private bath with shower.

Climb the stairs and you will find a spacious bedroom that offers a three twin beds with its own flat screen TV.

Venture outside and you will find a park model charcoal grill, a covered front and back porch for relaxing your cares away and the stream meandering throughout the property. Great for kids to splash and play in!

“Mountain Jewel” is the perfect mountain retreat for families or friends looking for a getaway. All size pets are allowed with a nonrefundable fee.
Thistle Meadow Winery is a short 20-minute drive In Laurel Springs, NC where you can try locally made wine. Visit downtown West Jefferson for numerous restaurants, breweries, shops, and antique stores. You can watch cheese being made at Ashe County Cheese the only cheese factory in North Carolina or catch a movie at one of two movie theaters. Enjoy a scrumptious meal at Craft Bistro or Hotel Tavern. Check out Boonedocks or New River Brewery for a local beer. Numerous art galleries dot downtown including RT Morgan, Lenore Depree and many more.
If you wish to ski, head to Appalachian Ski Mountain (50-minute drive), Beech Mountain (1 hour and 30 minutes) or Sugar Mountain (1 hour).

  We enjoyed our stay at Mountain Jewel; however, the description of the property should disclose that much of the home includes some close to original structures as to not take visitors off guard. Slanting floors were a surprise, although we got used to the charm of them. Cutlery was minimal and kitchen could use a better variety of pots and pans. Window treatments need to provide more privacy. No coffee table...Overall, we had a wonderful time, as we always do in Jefferson/West Jefferson, just some suggestions for future tenants.

  Worked great for our family. Property was very clean, linens were in excellent condition. Kitchen was stocked with what we required. We were in town for a family reunion that was being held at Jefferson Landing and this location was ideal. Getting to the upstairs was awkward as you have to go thru a bedroom.
  Only issue was the A/C went up the 2nd day and never came back on. The property mgr was helpful with trying to resolve, but we were unable to be there when the repair person might have been able to come so we persevered without.

The home is a remodeled farmhouse that had an addition added on to during its history. The only access to the upstairs twin bedroom is through one of the bedrooms. This home is in a great location just across the road and a short drive from Jefferson Landing. We do hope you stay with us again.

  Great location and convenient to town and other activities. Nice, clean and beautiful property. We would suggest the addition of a back deck so you could enjoy the yard and stream. Rain had kept the yard from mowing, but we thought that would be nice.

  We were blessed with 70 degree days and no rain for our entire 3 day stay. That was unexpected. We had a great time and the farmhouse accommodated the 6 of us just fine. Mind you we have 4 boys, 3 of which are 6'2" and above. The sleeping situation worked out perfect. The House was delightful, and it served its purpose of providing a place to come back to after exploring the trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The property was clean and well maintained. The only issue we had was that there were not many restaurants available during our stay. Boone is 40 min away but they have a mask mandate which we didn't want to deal with. We cooked our meals at the house and got to know the people at the Food Lion pretty well. Southern hospitality is a real thing. I would recommend this property for sure.
